Audition Requirements
Prepare one Shakespeare monologue in verse under 2 minutes. If auditioning for MACBETH, a serious monologue is requested. If auditioning for THE TEMPEST & PERICLES (including the Apprentice Company) also prepare 16 bars of a song, any style - a capella, self-accompany, or bring device (speaker hookup provided). Bring 3 copies of your headshot and resume. If possible, please fill out and bring the appropriate audition form(s) to the audition:

  • The Apprentice Company is a training and showcase program. Apprentices pay tuition and receive intensive professional training, then perform in the Summer Shakespeare shows. Minimum age: 13. (more)

  • Equity & Non-Equity positions are paid roles for professional actors.

  • Full and fair casting consideration will be given to ethnic minorities, women, seniors and actors with disabilities.

  • All actors must have local housing. The Nashville Shakespeare Festival does not have housing for out-of-town actors.

  • If you cannot attend in person, video auditions are only acceptable if you can be available for callbacks. Submit your video links to Include the appropriate audition form above. (Please do not send video files. Upload your video to a sharing service like YouTube, and send a link. Video submission deadline: April 20, 2019)


Auditions will be held at: Street Theatre Company, 1120 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville, TN 37210

Callbacks for The Tempest, Pericles and the Apprentice Company will be held May 5.
All adult actors in Macbeth will have fight choreography. A fight callback will be held April 29 from which actors will be selected for a reading callback on May 3.

Apprentice Company is a professional development training program, first and foremost, where the training will continue throughout all of rehearsals and the run of the show. This rigorous program is a full 8 hour day, including rehearsals. Roles will not be revealed till the first day of ApCo training. The Journeyman program is for any student that has completed the apprentice company or similar training with the apprentice company director, Santiago Sosa. Apprentice Company Tuition is $600 (Scholarships available)
Journeyman Tuition is $300
