at The Troutt Theater January 15- February 1, 2009
In addition to funding from The Tennessee Arts Commission, The Nashville Shakespeare Festival's production of Richard the Third is part of Shakespeare for a New Generation, a national initiative sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts in cooperation with Arts Midwest. Several organizations and foundations have already helped by committing support for our education initiatives for class room workshops and additional matinee performances for school groups. Ask us how!
at The Troutt Theater May 29 and 30, 2009
SHAKESPEARE’S CASE is the newest educational program developed by The Nashville Shakespeare Festival. This four actor production will feature William Shakespeare himself, drawing scripts, props, and costumes out of his traveling case in order to prove the case for his relevance today. Performing and directing scenes from Hamlet, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo & Juliet and The Merchant of Venice, Shakespeare hopes to convince the jurors that he is indeed innocent of being boring, confusing and irrelevant.
Join The Nashville Shakespeare Festival for this world premiere event! SHAKESPEARE'S CASE will be a humorous and informative introduction to Shakespeare's works for all ages as well as a delight for those who already love the Bard. Through this sixty-minute performance, we hope to convince the audience that Shakespeare is not only relevant, but integral to twenty-first century culture. We hope you will join us in educating your community and spreading knowledge about one of the most influential men who has ever lived.
